Healing 100 Hearts is a fundraising initiative to support children and adults born with congenital heart disease (CHD) in Malaysia to receive life-saving heart surgeries and procedures.

The Healing 100 Hearts campaign is organised by Yayasan Jantung Kongenital Malaysia (YJKM) in collaboration with Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia (HPUSM). Through a formal partnership, YJKM works with HPUSM to support congenital heart disease (CHD) patients — especially children from low-income families in the East Coast — by helping cover the costs of surgeries and treatments provided by the hospital. This collaboration builds on strategic efforts to expand access to paediatric heart care where it’s needed most.

Beneficiaries are children and adults diagnosed with congenital heart disease who: require surgery, catheterisation, or urgent cardiac procedures, and come from families unable to fully afford the cost of treatment.

Patients are referred and screened by the medical team and social worker department at HPUSM. Each case is reviewed based on: medical urgency, type of treatment required, and financial need of the family.

Yes. All stories shared are real CHD patients supported by YJKM, shared with consent from families to help raise awareness and funds for treatment.

In general, costs vary widely depending on the condition and procedure. Based on the Memorandum of Agreement with HPUSM, YJKM funds the eligible patients receiving treatment at HPUSM to a cap of RM3,000.00.

Donations go into a pooled patient assistance fund for the Healing 100 Hearts campaign, allowing YJKM to help patients based on medical urgency rather than donation size.

Funds may be used for: surgery and hospital bills, medical devices (valves, patches, stents), ICU and ward charges,
essential follow-up procedures and medication, and in some cases, diagnostic tests required before surgery.

All funds raised will still be used to support as many patients as possible. Treatment will be prioritised based on urgency and available funds.

YJKM keeps detailed records of: funds received, medical bills paid, and patients supported. Campaign updates and patient outcomes are shared through official social media and reports where possible. Additionally, YJKM is an externally audited organisation and our audited reports are published every year on our website.

Yes. Donors can follow progress through YJKM’s social media channels, website updates, and campaign reports featuring patient stories and milestones.

All funds raised through the Healing 100 Hearts campaign are first and foremost prioritised for patient medical treatment. This includes surgeries, procedures, and essential related care.
If there are excess funds after meeting patient needs, they may be used to support other CHD patients, ongoing patient support programmes, and essential operational costs required to run these services. YJKM is committed to keeping operational expenses to a minimum, so the maximum possible amount goes directly toward helping patients receive timely treatment.

Donations can be made through: YJKM’s official website page, approved crowdfunding platforms, and partner fundraising events and campaigns. All platforms contribute to the same Healing 100 Hearts campaign goal.

Donations of any amount, made through our website, qualify for tax deduction. For donations through other crowdfunding platforms or partner fundraising events and campaigns, the tax deduction status is on a case-by-case basis.
